I don't know if anyone has any thoughts on this matter... if there is really much to say about it. But my school is currently facing a massive number of absences due to regular flu, as well as H1N1. On Thursday, 213 people were gone out of a total of around 1100 students. It's been crazy. Normally, my school is overcrowded... now, we've got tons of space.
As of yet, I haven't caught anything (except a bad case of congestion from allergies), though I wouldn't be surprised if I do get some sort of flu sooner or later.
So I suppose what I'm really wondering is if anyone else's area is having trouble with the flu, H1N1 or otherwise.

Wow, that's a lot of people sick! We're having a lot of people having both kinds of the flu as well. I haven't gotten it either, however I'm having really bad allergies too. My mom is like paranoid about getting either flu, so she's been using bunches of hand sanitizer, and making me use it too. Which I understand, but I still give her a hard time every now and then.
So, yeah I think pretty much everywhere is getting hit badly with this flu thing.

Okay, I take back the allergies thing. Apparently, I really was sick, and I just didn't know it yet. It started with the congestion, and then some coughing, which led into some coughing, which I thought was just due to drainage. But yesterday, the cough got very persistent, and today I've got 102.2 fever... Thankfully, I actually don't feel too bad, except for the coughing.
And so, I become one of the many who will probably be gone on Monday from my school. I'm betting that enough people will get sick to close school. ^_^

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm glad you don't feel too bad though.
Mine really is allergies, however they're starting to go away. I know they're allergies because my Clarinex, which is for allergies, takes it away.
Well, I hope you get to feeling better, and maybe your school will close down!

My school never ended up closing, though quite a few people are still sick. I think that the most that were gone was about 250 on one day. I'm still coughing, probably from a respiratory infection from the original virus. It's not too bad, though, so I'm still going to school.

well, I'm glad you're not too sick now. I hope that infecton clears up! I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that you're still going to school though. It's nice to have a break, but then when you get back, you have a mountain of make-up work!
So, again, I'm glad you're feeling better!

Ah, it's all just hog wash. Opie and Anthony (mornings on XM 202, the Virus) actually did a bit on this. The swine flu was overhyped somewhere in the 80's, and look where we are now. I don't believe in any of that stuff. I've been going on three years without being sick and that's all from Kevin Trudeau's book. Just take care of yourself, mind what you eat, and excerise regularly. That's what I do, and it absolutely helps. I've quarantined myself in a house with everyone sick as ever, and caught nothing. Just take care of yourself and you'll be fine.

It is overhyped, especially when you consider that the regular flu kills quite a few people every year, too. It's good that the Center for Disease Control is keeping an eye on it, though, to keep it from getting too out of control.
A lot of other people at my school keep on getting infections after about a week of being flu-free (me included). Most are still coming to school. Some people I know have missed quite a bit of class time, though, and I feel sorry about how much they'll have to make up. Missing one day of school is bad enough, but when you miss four (like my brother) or six (like one of my friends), you can still be behind for weeks after the fact. I really wish schools could come up with a way to make it less overwhelming... though it's hard for them to do that and keep not sick kids from skipping school, so I see the problem....

Ok, well I have nothing to say about the Swine flu....but because this is just titled "sickness" I thought I could write this in here. I'M SICK!!!!!!!!
I pretty sure it's just a cold. But the really bad part is that I have a solo in church on Sunday!!!! It's not a very big one, just a couple of verses. But then I have to sing the rest of the song with the rest of the youth choir, all like 7 of them. And my biggest symptom is a sore throat. GR. So, yeah....I'm sick.

That stinks... Hope you get better soon! If it's just a cold, then hopefully you'll be over it soon. Some people I know that had swine flu have been struggling with the after-effects of it for weeks. I'm finally over my coughing~
And maybe this is just me, but it seems like whenever I have a solo in anything, I almost always get a sick right before it. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Thanks! Yeah, I'm already feeling a little better, but I'm still sick. That's good you're over your coughing!
I know!! I think last time I had this same solo, I got sick. I really do hate that!!
But my solo was this morning, and I did just fine. Everybody said I sounded just great. Which is good, because I didn't think I did. Well I guess I did ok, it's just I'm my own worst critic...but I really do think I did just fine. Now I can just focus on getting rest, and getting over this....well whatever it is that I have!

Ugh. I suck at coming on here often. Stupid chemistry. Well, since I'm here, I'll just boast that I'm still sick free of being sick. That's right, my natural cure things are working, like all natural soap, all natural shampoo, all natural cleaning products, all natural toothpaste, even an all natural toothbrush. So yeah, that's just how I'm doing. I wish everyone else good luck and health, though. Can't sound too much of a jerk in this post.
